Departure from Township Office

    * Township Office *
        Whether driving by yourself or taking the bus, the most convenient way is to start from the Township Office; remember to take the guided tour manual, it is the basic necessity for traveling in Linyuan.

      There is a statue of Chiang Kai-shek in front of the Township Office, at the fork road, if you take the road on the right of the statue, it is the Linyuan South Road, when you see Donglin East Road, turn into Fusing Road and you will arrive at the Old Street.
    If you are driving, park your vehicle at the township parking lot not far from the Township Office, it is situated near Linyuan South Road and Kainan Road.
     
    * Linyuan Old Street *
     
    * Introduction of the Old Street
      The old name for Linyuan was Linzaibian, from the Singji Temple and Fusing Street of Fude Temple, this was the most bustling Linzaibian Street, it is also known by the citizens of Linyuan as Old Street. During the Japanese occupation period, the establishment of he Linyuan Village, the name Linyuan is used until present day.

    Old Street consists mainly of Fusing Street, it is also the gathering place for government institutions, the old police department is still preserved here, and the old Linyuan post office has been renovated. Linyuan North Road was only constructed towards the end of the Japanese occupation and is now referred to as New Street by the locals. Furthermore, there is also the Japanese single story house. The road leading from Fonglin Road towards the direction of the Township Office is Linyuan North Road.
    Extending from Fusing Street and Linyuan North Road to Jhongsiao West Road, Donglin West Road and Renai Road, this areas is where Linyuan’s commercial activities and government institutions are concentrated.

    * Huang Fong-an Drugstore
      Huang Fong-an Drugstore  Of the old houses on Old Street, the most characteristic must be the Yijhu Room and the Huang Fong-an Drugstore, which have transformed into catering businesses.   

      The deceased owner of the Huang Fong-an Drugstore, Mr. Huang Zhen-xian, became acquainted with Ms. Izumi Aika in Tokyo, Japan over 70 years ago; after several upheavals, they were eventually married in Taiwan and left behind a beautiful romantic story. Izumi Aika, who is now in her 90s, still lives there, making her a genuine Taiwanese daughter in law.

    * Old Police Department
      Old Police Department  The old police department is a registered historic building, it is currently where the Donglin Community Development Association is located; this is a reutilization of old buildings.

    * Yishihyuan Herb Garden
      Yishihyuan Herb Garden  At the back of the old police department is the Yishihyuan Herb Garden of Donglin Community, which boasts a collection of over 200 species of herbs. The community invited Chinese Medicine Doctor Lin Suo to develop health tea for sales. If you wish to visit the herb garden, please make reservation in advance through the community.

    * Fude Temple
      Fude Temple  After entering Old Street, remember to pay a visit to the historic district, Fude Temple and pray sincerely to the Earth God for abundant wealth. According to the locals, people often have their wishes granted by praying to the Earth God for wealth and safety.

    * Sinji Temple
      Sinji Temple  Sinji Temple worships Baosheng God (God of Medicine), a prominent doctor in the Song Dynasty (also called Dadaogong), this is also where the Linyuan Community is situated. According to the older generation, the terrain of Old Street is higher in the center and lower on the sides, which are flanked by the Fude Temple and Sinji Temple, resembling that of a carrying pole with two large baskets on either end; this is excellent feng shui, and as a result, Linyuan Old Street has boomed.

    * Yamu Duke Temple
      Yamu Duke Temple  The small Yamu Duke Temple is situated on Jhongsiao East Road and houses Jhu Yi-guei, the senior general who fought against the Cing regime, it is historically significant.
